GENERAL BUSINESS

1. RADIO EQUIPMENT FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT

Police Chief Howard Smith and Police Commissioner Brandon Guse informed Council that the Village has been awarded a grant to purchase equipment. He provided Council a listing of the approved equipment which includes 800 mghz radios that will comply with the County’s endeavor to have all public safety departments able to communicate on this radio system. He explained that all grants obtained by the Police Department require that the items are paid for up front and reimbursed by the County and that if we act promptly, we can save three hundred dollars per radio, twenty one hundred dollars total as he is considering purchasing seven.

MOTION by Guse, seconded by Wolak, to authorize the purchase under the COPS grant of radio equipment for the Police Department. Council authorizes expenditure of $20.098.00 for purchase to be reimbursed $20,000.00 from Macomb County Emergency Management.
